January 2021 – It’s all change

As we emerge from the depths of January we thought it was about time to share some of the changes that have been happening at the cottages. With a new office, carpets and coats of paint, there has been a lot going on to get ready for re-opening in April (presuming restrictions allow us).

As the country was plunged back into full lockdown, we were getting nervous about whether people would feel confident booking holidays for 2021 and whether our refurbishment plans could still be able to go ahead. However, we are delighted that bookings have been coming in and very grateful that all the physical works have been able to carry on as planned.

Therefore, January started with re-painting. However, no sooner had the painters arrived, so did the snow.  While they bravely continued to make the journey over to the cottages, the weather soon got the better of them. On the third day, after making it within 100 metres of the Cottages their van managed to get stuck in one of our field entrances and they had to turn back to a slightly less remote job. However, they soon returned, and each cottage now has a fresh lick of paint and feature walls to match the new cottage names. Next on the agenda was the flooring. Cottages 1-3 now all have brand new carpets with the rest planned for February. We hope you all like them as much as we do.

We have also made a start on setting up the new office. This is located in one of the outbuildings at Talkin Head which had previously been converted and used as an office by Sam’s dad. As we both work full time, he has kindly allowed us to use the building going forward to work from and as the perfect base to run the cottages.

With February looming we are hoping that everything stays on track and will share more updates as they come. In the meantime we wish you all good health and look forward to seeing you soon!

Stay safe

Sam & Helena
